In a swath of forgettable films, these storytellers created and provided a totally unusual world that leaps through time and genres to gift us with an unexpectedly charming journey. The sound of the lighthouse began to torment me as well, as the homage Hitchcock and the greats kept me on the edge of my seat as Pattinson climbs the spiral staircase. What is real? What is not? More interestingly, what do I want to be real? There is room to play. I choose to believe the fantasy of the supernatural and lore was real. Makes me happy to believe in mermaids, karma, and luring lights for 2 hours of my life. Two moments that need acknowledgement: the magnificent still shot of Defoe naked standing over Pattinson as if a snapshot of a Grecian urn. And lastly, the complete catharsis and surprise of the upbeat music that begins the roll of the credits. The audience audibly let out a laugh, as did I, and I've never seen something so clever and so needed.

Really loved the movie, glad i didnt watch the trailer this showed everything 🙃. 2:33. For me that blaring foghorn just comes across more powerful than most of the other horns we hear in the movie. Probably since its a nightmare or something? But it this scene more intense for sure. Feel like this movie is heavily inspired by the work of Samuel Beckett, Andrei Tarkovsky and David Lynch and that's a really good news! We need more of our mental space to be occupied by the narratives like these instead of being spoonfed reasons and interpretations. Think about this movie like a piece of poetry or an abstract painting rather than your usual: intruduction - confrontation - resolution kind of story, as this movie has multiple or non of these depending of how you decide to aproach it. Acting is absolutely top notch, accompanied by very theatrical and minimalist approach to a degree that every item and scene matters. Great cinema overall.

This movie also couldve been called “Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes.” That ending man. Holy hell watching this late at night while it's storming outside alone awake close to the screen volume high is a gucking experience, easily one of my new favorites. Watch full length the lighthouse song.

Adam Sandler is the surprisingly great serious actor we dont deserve but need

I need to see this movie. In BOS they showed these locations in color. Let me tell you, the fact that it is black and white makes it 1000x more terrifying. It makes everything look completely miserable. With color, it doesn't look all that bad. Watch full length the lighthouse full. Sandler takes a serious role like every 10 years. Dafoe and Pattinson deliver every single one of their lines PERFECTLY! Thomas Wake is the Old Man of the Sea and Pattinson is the Promethean that simply wanted enlightenment. Absolutely gorgeous film.
